Here’s Why You Should Sleep On Your Left Side (Backed by Science)

What side of the body do you regularly mull over?

Is it troublesome for you to choose which position would be best for you to rest in?

A few people know the response to that inquiry, however for some, uncertainty leaks back in a bad position nodding off.

Will you feel more refreshed on your back?

Would lying on your stomach be better?

Specialists exhort that the best side to think about is the left side.

Dr. John Douillard will clarify us how mulling over our left side might be the perfect approach to give your body the rest it needs.

Here are a few reasons why the left side is apparently the best one for the rest.

1.Spine and breathing

According to Joint Essential, sleeping on your back puts too much pressure on the upper back and hips, and leaves your lower back in a suspended state which is dangerous in the long run.

Additionally, sleeping on your stomach strains both your lower back and your neck.

WebMD says that sleeping on your side is the best at providing optimal air flow to the lungs.

Dr.Douillard writes on LifeSpa that if you sleep on your left side, the food will travel more swiftly from your small intestine to your large intestine, and then in the descending colon.

It is good to take 10-minute rests lying on your left side, after eating in order to help your meal be better digested and to recover from the dreaded “food coma” quicker.

3.Lymph draining

Douillard gives an explanation that most of the lymphatic system is present on the left side of your body.

When lymphatic congestion happens, it is frequently on the left-hand side.

Sleeping on the left side allows gravity to take some of the pressure of lymph drainage away from your heart and your spleen.

Of course, the heart and the spleen are located on the left side of your body.

According to Dr. Steven Park, sleep professional, if you are trying to forcefully alter the position you sleep in could actually make things worse, because you will be breaking your sleeping habits.
